What does “People Power” mean to us? →
Sharing Presy Psinakis’ thoughts on “People Power” as we commemorate the event tomorrow. Note that Mrs. Psinakis is the only daughter of Lopez Group founder Eugenio H. Lopez Sr.. She is a staunch nationalist who fought the Marcos regime alongside other Lopez family members and her husband Steve Psinakis.

Dennis Garcia's take on the impeachment hearings
Über creative Dennis Garcia is at it again. This time, he has churned something out of the current impeachment proceedings. Reposting his post with permission: Posted on 18/02/2012 The impeachment hearings can make a smart marketer very rich! Instead of being irritated by the long-winded impeachment trials, get smart… get rich. You can make a bundle of money by leveraging the interest of the whole...

To those who love expensive things, here's top 20...
Being a gourmand, I got forwarded this email.. and now sharing this top 20 most expensive list. Of course, expensive doesn’t always mean the best. I’m not sure if I’d have the heart to shell out $200 for a club sandwich or a $1,000 for either an omelet or sundae despite the fact it has 23K gold leaf, or even $2,600 for a chocolate truffle and dear me, $53,000 for rum!...

Good read: Scientists Find the Bare Minimum...
Now it’s scientifically proven that high intensity interval training works best. From Jamie Condliffe: Scientists Find the Bare Minimum Exercise You Need to Get Fit We all know we need to exercise to stay fit and healthy, but sometimes it’s difficult to find the time. Don’t worry: scientists have worked out the minimum amount of exercise you can get away with in order to get...

WOD: strength DEAD LIFTS 2.16.12
Second day of PALEO Challenge and I’m still surviving. Mind you, I’m on vegetarian PALEO. Thus, practically can’t eat anything. After 3 weeks hiatus, my strength has sort of diminished. I was able to do a max of 115-lbs (10 reps) dead lifts and only 80 air squats in the cash out portion.

恭喜发财 (wishing you great prosperity)
No, this is not a belated Keung Hie Fat choi post. According to Loi, “officially, the Year of the Rabbit year will end Feb. 4, at 6:40 p.m….The official shift of energy to mark the start of the Dragon year is based on the Hsia Chinese Solar calendar.”  She says that a lot of people refer to the Lunar Year as the start of the animal year. This is wrong because there are 12...

"Houston, we have a problem"
This is what the Apollo 13 moon flight crew - John Swigert, James Lowell and Fred Haise reported back to NASA on April 14, 1970. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing I know about this vast city - NASA! I haven’t spotted any oilfields yet.

WOD: HSPU and 'Bastards' 01.19.12
Miggy wasn’t our coach yesterday and SMS’d him that the WOD was bitin or  not enough. He texted back with “what? maybe you didn’t push yourself!”. Hmmm… less than Rx using band-assisted HSPU is not enough? I wasn’t feeling well yesterday. In fact, I was diagnosed with nasopharyngitis.  I wanted to sweat profusely to break the fever that was building up....

No fun in Baguio: NO to SM to cut trees!
Mall giant Shoe Mart (SM for short) plans to cut and uproot a total of 182 trees at the Luneta Hill to give way to a pay parking lot. Specifically, to cut 43 fully grown Alnus japonica trees and uproot 97 growing pine trees (Pinus kesiya) and 42 saplings. Apparently, Sec. More Fun in the Philippines: to swim with Whale...
I’m definitely Cebu-bound this February to swim with the whale sharks!! Yup, Cebu and not Donsol in Bicol which is dubbed the ‘whale shark capital of the world’. These gentle creatures have been drawing a number of tourists to the sleepy town of Oslob, south of Cebu. Cebu is now becoming a world class diving destination with all of these sightings - the thresher shark in...

WOD: clean the plates (01.16.12)
Today’s WOD was two parts - power cleans to determine poundage and another set of power cleans using plates, tabata style (i.e. do as many reps for 20-sec and rest for 10-sec for a total of 8 intervals).   Since my left trap was still bothersome, Miggy gave me a different WOD for the first part and allowed to downscale RX to 15. [Thanks Miggy!] Warm up: 250m row, 100 jump rows, 10 pass...

More Fun in the Philippines: Cebu Prison makes it...
Super cool albeit only a split second, 0:18 to be exact. In this January 8 episode, the TV host where Homer Simpson was being interviewed said “Yes, your video has been mashed up, auto-tuned, Jimmy Fallon-ed, Philippine prisoner-ed…”
